On the 1 mitt people are requesting more than and more permissions to be added merely on the other hand people start to complain nigh the "complexity" of the permission system.
I am agape this won't come to a happy end.

The problem is, people tin can upload unlimited files with unlimited size on the server.
The quota doesnt really assist if y'all have someone who has a file und reuploads it regularly. His quota volition be exceeded in no time.

If i set information technology to 100 MB and you lot accept a 100 MB file, you can upload it once in a month. You deceit even reupload information technology when information technology was deleted.Originally Posted past dante696
Its something similar "max diskspace" i am looking for. And then y'all can assign x MB for uploads for each client. So nobody can fill up the server, simply y'all are still able to delete and reupload a file equally ofttimes every bit y'all want.

There is no way to limit the filesize of a single File nor the total amount of all Files uploaded to the server, the only thing you can practice is limit the Traffic that is allowed for each calendar month (which you can change in the location pointed out by Jordi above).

The client can see the file size, it could transport the file size to the server and bank check to make sure its inside the limit placed by the server. If nosotros can have a limit to the size of avatars and icons then why not files?

No information technology is not possible and as far as I remember the official statement: this behavior will non be changed.

Excuse me. We still accept this outcome.
Delight add a possibility to limit the disk infinite on virtual server footing. I cannot find any responsible reason why this feature is rejected.
In this thread for example y'all rejected the aforementioned suggestion, but y'all did not understand the user correctly. After he has explained what he really wanted, he got no reply from you.

Diskspace is non an issue nowadays and almost everyone has information technology in abundance, on the other manus bandwidth / traffic is what is expensive and thus can be limited. If you want to limit the corporeality of diskspace that tin can be used you tin use your operating systems deejay quota management to limit the corporeality of space that tin be consumed.
